“8 Steps to (finally) Write YOUR Book”

Michelle Melton Cox: Book Coach and Author

My name is Michelle Melton Cox and I teach people the learnable skills to embrace their secret dream of writing a book so they can go from feeling like an imposter with a silly book idea to being an author who did the hard work and wrote the damn book.

I’m a certified book coach and creator of both the Fearless Midlife Writers and the Addicts to Authors book-coaching programs. I’m also an author, and I work with people in midlife and people in recovery who feel called to write and who crave the connection, healing and satisfaction that come from raising their voices and telling the stories inside them. My clients start, write and finish their manuscripts and go on to publish them. My clients become authors, and their words echo into the future, because while time is fleeting, the written word has permanence. See their testimonials here.

Fiction and Nonfiction Book Coaching

Stop Dreaming and start DOING. It’s time to quit talking about writing and start the work of being a writer. Let’s make your dreams a reality and finally bring your novel or nonfiction book to life with one-on-one, customized coaching. This time you won’t quit. You’ll finish your manuscript.

Journaling and Coaching for People in Recovery

I work with people in recovery who feel called to share their journey—who feel a tug to write and who want to examine their stories through writing and turn their experience, strength and hope into a benefit for others. We are strong people with brave stories and we need to carry the message.

Other places you can hear & see me talking about what I do.

I was interviewed by Grace Harris, Author and Transformational Coach, about the power of sharing our stories through fiction and nonfiction. We talked about the healing power of story, and about how it’s never to late to start writing. We also discussed writing in middle age, and writing in recovery.

I had the pleasure of being a guest on Lori Maniscott’s To 50 and Beyond podcast. Loris’s podcast is for women in midlife who are exploring or living a sober lifestyle. You can listen to the full episode here. We discussed: what midlife, sobriety and writing have in common; tips to start writing fiction or non-fiction; how to figure out what story to tell; and, dealing with fear and imposter syndrome in writing

Your Jacket Copy is Your Promise to the Reader. Listen in as I talk about Blueprint for a Book Step 4 on the #amwriting podcast with Host KJ Dell Antonia and Author Accelerator Founder Jennie Nash. We talk about how to make our ideal reader say, “Oh—THIS is the book for me!” In this episode, we’re going to talk about what happens when one of those potential readers picks your book up off that shelf–and turns it over. That means we’re talking jacket copy! Listen to the full episode here.
